My four-year-old figured out the water brush thing in about ten seconds, which is a win when she usually wants me to do everything for her. The pages dry fast too, so she can keep going without soaking the whole book.
The paint palette is built right into each page, so there's nothing to set up or spill except a little cup of water. My daughter spent a solid hour on the princess scenes and barely made a mess.
