Bought this for a road trip and the mess-free thing is real—the markers only show up on the special pages, so nothing bled onto the car seat. My 7-year-old and her cousin took turns with the four markers for almost an hour, which never happens.
My 5-year-old figured out the color-reveal trick on her own within seconds, and the invisible ink means the markers really do only show up on the pad. Kept her busy through a whole restaurant wait without a single mark on the tablecloth.
